UNCCI is the oldest, largest and only nation-wide umbrella organization of the private sector in Uganda. It was formed in 1933 as a private sector body, we have grown to become a vibrant and credible business association owned by members from the Ugandan business community.

The Chamber Strategy
UNCCI pursues its vision and its mission through a growth strategy to strengthen its advocacy role, increase the number of its members through improved member services while adopting better financial management techniques. This strategy is based on four pillars; advocacy, membership and financial management.
- Membership Services: Innovative and extended membership services, including trade facilitation, exhibitions, trade missions, advisor services and linkages with other actors such as government departments, civil society missions, funding agencies and foreign missions.
- Advocacy: Public policy research and advocacy, particularly on issues that affect the business environment.
- Institutional Development: Strengthening UNCCI governance systems and resource asset base, and making the best use of the Chamber’s networks at district, national, regional and international levels.
- Enterprise Development: Supporting entrepreneurial efforts and promoting the profitability and growth of enterprises.
- Skills Development: Matching education and training programs to the labor market, conducting training programs, supporting in-house and apprenticeship programs, accrediting training ‘centers of excellence’, and mainstreaming cultural arts and skills.
- Human Resources: Repositioning the human resource strategy to fit the dynamic and unpredictable business environment while maximizing opportunities for human resource retention, motivation, performance and development.
- Communications: Providing up-to-date information on business opportunities, enabling members to communicate and transact, and making optimal use of media.
